Maui Space Surveillance System (MSSS)...
September 2005
While attending the 2005 USAF AMOS Conference (Air Force Maui Optical and Supercomputing Site), RCOS was allowed to tour the Maui Space Surveillance System on top of Haleakala, Maui, Hawaii. The site is located at 10,000 feet above sea level and houses many telescopes, both Military and Institutional.

The 120 ton USAF AEOS 3.67m Satellite Tracker slews at 18 degrees per second in azimuth and 5 degrees per second in elevation. This instrument has a cassegrain focus of f/13 and a coude focus of f/200. It is capible of imaging in visible light though long wave IR.
RCOS currently has a 16RC Carbon Tube Telescope at the f/200 coude focus of this 3.67m, allowing for ultra high resolution imagery.

The Maui Space Surveillance System (MSSS) is made up of many telescopes and observatories, notably the AEOS 3.67m in the foreground.
