Computerized polishing by Star Instruments.

Star Instruments figures and polishes by conventional means until they are close to 1/4 wave P-V. Then an interferogram is done. The computer which collects the data then directs the final polishing. This automated process may take several iterations. Star Instruments has been manufacturing Ritchey-Chretien optics for over 20 years!

Star Instruments optics include detailed anaylsis reports such as the contour map shown here.   Fringe mapping is one step in the analysis process by Star Instruments.
